Are you going on summer vacation and are you planning on taking your dog with you? In this article, we describe what you need to take into account when taking your dog on holiday.
Check before you travel
In some countries or states, your dog needs to be microchipped, the rabies vaccination needs to be up to date, and you may need to bring a dog passport or health certificate from the vet. Always check the local rules of the country or state to which you will travel.
Travelling with your dog
How will you keep your dog safe in the car? Do you use a dog crate, a harness or a dog guard? Always check the rules in the country or state to which you are travelling, since some states and countries require your dog to be restrained in your car.
Plan enough breaks during your journey to let your pet walk around and relieve itself, at least every two hours. Moreover, keep your car well ventilated. Even with the air-conditioning on, it can become quite hot at the back of the car. Especially when the sun is shining through the back window, the temperature can rise easily.
